You notice it already at the pricing. The smallest petrol engine is not available. There are only two V6 diesel engines, a V8 diesel engine about 20,000 euros more expensive and a petrol hybrid engine. The peaks with V8 petrol engine and above were cut off, thanks to CO2 legislation.

The hybrid is not added as the only rear-wheel drive as e.g. at Volvo, but placed much simpler between converter and engine.Thus the emphasis remains on the rear-wheel drive and the Touareg with the correct tyres a serious off-road vehicle.

Plug-in does not exist, but what sense it should have at only 1.73 kWh? For the Touareg Hybrid can now glide by freewheel. Otherwise, one can perhaps speak of a facelift of the facelift, because the major changes have been in the car since 2010, the hybrid drive came a little later.

Front and rear were thus again modified slightly. All VW models now obtain gradually the inexpensive to realise multi collision brake and Bi-xenon in front of the sellout, since it was replaced at the top. In the Touareg, it is anyway standard from now. New things available: Google Earth and Street View.

Nevertheless, one still needs to say a word about the development of this car. Ferdinand Piech was happy at that time to be able to ascribe the development costs at a given percentage Porsche and let also benefit Audi thereof at the end. Meanwhile one holds back oneself something and lets precedence at least Porsche in the performance.

One has scolded Piech because of his 'superpower plans', perhaps with the Phaeton even rightly so. But so far sold 720,000 Toureg are impressive evidence for his sixth sense. 06/14
