This is the first Audi, which is made entirely in the (extended) factory in Györ (Hungary). This means there is also an engine production. And look once to the squeaky-clean production. The location is known since 1994, but so far only by production of the Audi TT and the A3 Cabriolet. Meanwhile, the plant is the largest exporter in Hungary.

No, the three-box design does not come back, it's never really been away, just in Germany. There they did not like the somewhat old-fashioned-looking vehicles, wanted a more chic appearance and yet so much interior space as possible. At that time there were also no folding rear seat backrests. Meanwhile, the classic sedan has learned.

The trick is the passenger compartment move slightly to the rear. In principle, the result is a rising frontline to the upper edge of the roof. The rear window is also set obliquely but not so much for aerodynamic reasons as the front windshield. For a proper tailgate it would now no longer suffice, except you will add the rear end plate.

Equipment in order to use the full capacity for load: 155 €

Of course, this is not quite without problems because by the possibility of the use of the full load capacity, the stability suffers a bit. If we now also would cut out deep the very back, you would have to stabilize extensive at another point which in turn will cost material and therefore weight. So, the compromise triumphs, sometimes even with bevels left and right.

The A3 sedan contents itself with this rear cutout. The rear window is no part of of the tailgate, and thus can contribute to stability in contrast to the already existing A3. A good solution is also the division of the tail lights. The part that lifts with the the boot lid, so is not perceived as such. Audi advertises for this car with the low curb weight of 1250 kg.

Probably the first Jettas and even worse, the Derbys have caused the poor image of the notchback. It really looked like attached later. Incidentally, this A3 sedan is actually also a Jetta because it uses the common platform. But you certainly do not see it, incidentally, the new Jetta also not. If now is still added a touch of sportiness in the form of the S1 Sedan (2.0 TFSI, 221 kW, 380 Nm) ... 07/13
