The Mercedes 500 SL is presented in 2001. It belongs to the new generation of convertibles with a fixed roof. It consists of two parts which folded find space in the trunk. During the (hydraulic operated) folding the solid rear window rotates an additional 180°.
To the many electronic innovations is next to ESP and suspension control also the SBC brake, but in the Daimler-Benz cars due to technical difficulties only a temporary existence. Also new is in the displacement weaker models a sequential manual transmission. At the other end of the scale later there is a biturbo charged twelve-cylinder with 450 kW (612 hp), which brings it to a governed torque of 1.000 Nm. 10/11
