Formulary Braking Force (wheel)

Effective and dynamicradius in a disc brake

To determine the braking force on the wheel, one must know the effective braking force on the brake- blocks/pads. This is reduced by the measure, that the dynamic wheel-radius is larger than the effective diameter. In the case of the drum brake, this is the distance from the inside of the drum to the wheel center.
