Apparently more than 300 kg have been saved. One is proud of the new 2,7 litres direct injector. Have a look at it in video Nr. 4 below in the comparative test. As far as the development of torque is concerned, it out performs the last remaining eight-cylinder. In the former generation, one could choose between two V-8 engines. The fuel consumption of the vehicle, which for our taste is not exactly elegant, is given at being fairly moderate, whereby, these are mostly the very optimistic figures given by the manufacturer. If you would like to convert them to CO2, you can do so here. Since the 10th generation there have no longer been any Diesel engines. The reason for this is, that the car is too much a 'Light Duty Pick-up Truck', and the larger model, the 'Super Duty' does have one. It's quite astonishing that Ford, who for decades now, offer an unbelievable variety as far as sizes and wheelbases are concerned, don't have a Diesel version in their programme. The pictures show the 2011 F-150 (with annual face-lifts) and here you will also recognise a few technical specialities. If you also have a look at the video below, the one about the production, you'll see the comparatively simple utility-vehicle technology, e.g., of the rear suspension. This is however, and not only in the engines, combined with a large portion of aluminium and high-tensile steels. They have even saved in the case of glass and the wheels. The frame dimensions are also relatively small. Right at the bottom of the videos, you can have a look at the production and the radical rebuilding of the factory for the new model. Into the bargain, we've also added a look at what the seemingly gigantic factory is like today and what it was like in former times. 01/14
