Miura, this time it's not a bull, but a famous breeder. After quite civilized-looking GT now a genuine and accordingly wild bull. It seems that the brand Lamborghini comes slowly to their true destiny. Except the engine this time with downdraft carburetors, apart from that everything is different. For the engine is now more height available, because it has moved to the rear. Arranged transversely, it forms with the gearbox lying behind a unit, in the first production even years on lubricating oil level. An Italian 'P' for the rear mounted engine now decorates the model name. Sometimes a 'T' is added, because the engine is arranged transversely.

If you want to do the Miura wrong, you compare it with smaller mid-engined cars of its time as Fiat X1/9 or Matra Bagheera where has been moved in principle only the front drive train to the rear. But here the case is different, because there is no transversely arranged twelve-cylinder with front-wheel drive, for good reason. Therefore had much to be newly constructed. And this first with an external and in the course of production with its own gear. Please think in the context of the enormous torque that needs to be transmitted.

But by looking at the technology under the sheet metal one will not be fair with the car. Because the body itself should then and perhaps still today, many people have put into ecstasy. It is the star of the Geneva Motor Show 1966. A year before Lamborghini has presented the shell without the body and subsequently the company Bertone awarded the contract. There designs Marcello Gandini (27), this beautiful, almost timeless shapes. A major difference between sports cars as such to the successor Countach is hardly conceivable. One may describe the difference with 'moderate' to 'brutal'.

As most sensational will be probably felt the top speed, scraping at the most powerful versions of the 300 speed mark. It surpasses with it temporarily everything there is in series in the world. It is also the href master of the roundings. The light of its relatively small headlights and the surrounding it black fences are indeed criticized, but are now inextricably linked with its name. One will find it in similar form in the Porsche 928.

Get into the narrow interior. You perhaps may notice that this car is the lowest Lamborghini ever. Some switches had to be relocated to the roof similar to aircrafts. Do not even try to adjust the steering wheel or the seat backs. Be prepared for small or missing rear view mirrors. Start the engine directly behind you. Feel its heat, even against the air conditioning is powerless. Operate the steering and brakes. It is surprisingly well without auxiliary equipment. Nevertheless older vehicles will be a little rougher with the driver. And louder they are also, at least below around.
