The Rally Kadett is the first offer of Opel to sports-oriented and mostly young drivers, female rarer yet. The beginning the Opel managers are not so sure because of the acceptance. The significant extra cost either contains at the engine with same displacement 10 hp more or directly a much larger and more modern from the Opel Rekord. Perhaps one has not yet thought when designing the Opel Kadett B at the large engine, otherwise one would have given him a bigger tank. Also the increased consumption of oil testers complained. Now all this is almost nothing, considering the enormous performance of the large-volume engine, especially in fast freeway traffic. There is for relatively little money a lot of driving fun, even if the spring system comfort suffers thereby significantly. After all the relatively simple suspension is safe, despite the larger and thus probably also heavier engine. In the class are not yet usual five-speed transmissions, making the speed jumps a little large, especially to the fourth. The black stripes on the engine hood are officially justified with the avoidance of light reflections. In reality they are the sign of recognition. The Rally Kadett could be ordered without these 'war paint', but almost nobody has ever seen one in the street scene. When the cars succeed in this market segment, the company does not let up. The success goes over the Kadett GTE to Manta II. The company apparently combines with this model, yet another intention, namely the entry into motor sports. Since 1968 there is a sports trophy for young racing talents. The vehicle shown in the image has for this purpose a 106 hp engine, an adjusted rear axle ratio, appropriate safety measures and instruments. 02/08
