The Commodore is the successor of the Rekord (A/B) 6, in which hastily is mounted a six-cylinder inline engine, shortly before the presentation of the Ford V6. So now is created a separate model series, which differs from the Rekord except by the engine also by more chrome and the design of the radiator grill. There are all models as a Commodore except the station wagon. 1970 is added the menacing-looking GS version (Fig. 2). Thisis at the very end even provided with a GS/E variant with D-Jetronic and 110 kW (150 hp). This then comes up to the two sonic barriers 200 km/h and 0..100 km/h under 10 seconds. Incidentally, the 2.5-liter engine is only available in the Commodore in this time. Even in the automatic sector the Commodore A will make a transformation. The first models are in fact still equipped with two-speed transmissions. And if we already are at the technology of the the GM mother, the engine compartment of the Commodore A is so spacious, that even American V8-technology fits, whereby the relatively inexpensive tuning are virtually no limits. On a little more petrol consumption, is now also less important. 08/08
