Who was Colin Chapman? Surely a man with many ideas. He has lived very fast and died with 54 years very early (at heart failure). He has founded a company and significantly co-created, which often stood on the border of insolvency. That hardens and does not just promote the softness of character.

Surely he is more connected to the racing world than the car business with private customers. There is visible a certain parallel to Enzo Ferrari, the only Ferraris produced for the road to afford the racing business.

That there are possible serious friendships even in this harsh reality shows picture 2 with Jim Clark, the exceptionally talented racer the does not only gained for Lotus brilliant racing victories. His early death at the age of 32 Colin Chapman should never have coped.

Chapman is an unconditional friend of lightweight construction. His company are due to a wealth of experience with GRP as a material forthe body. This working methods also caters respectively the low funding of the company. One uses also more likely shelves of large-scale manufacturers than to produce the parts themselves and expensive.

But as a Lotus is basically aero and driving dynamic are the bodywork, the suspension and from the engine at least the cylinder head usually own designs, although for example GfK is often given as a wage labour to contractors. However, we have already anticipated much too far.
