P stands for panoramic (windscreen)
After hesitant beginnings in 1953 and 1956, the American style here is significantly visible. Curved (panoramic) windowsbe used both front and rear. This results in completely crazy A-and C-pillars. Front the door opens even under the lateral windshield, what the comfort to enter not just benefit and is a certain danger for the knees. After all, the Opel remains the same in the design of the front area as its predecessor.
Nevertheless, the body reflects the new optimism in Germany. The chrome decoration is clearly increasing. There are more and more models ordered in two-color paintwork. The wiper, previously driven by the camshaft receives now a two-stage electric motor. At the speedo needle there is now a mechanical wandering color strip. The dashboard is made of metal and has chrome adornments. Among them the innovative hand brake which allows a bench seat for three persons. Much love the factory has put in the processing of plastic, much to the chagrin of vintage cars interested parties. 07/08
