It is essentially new, and still has ahead of it a considerable development at its presentation in 1967 in Stockholm, this somewhat strange car with the ignition switch next to the middle gearshift lever. But one thing it is already showing what it distinguished for a long time, namely character.

The design of Sixten Sason (Anderson) gives it distinctive traits. It seems made for a conservative public but, is nevertheless practically with its folding rear seat backrest. Already at the beginning is important the standard security: three-point seat belts, good seats with head restraints, steering with predetermined breaking points, dual circuit brakes and safety body. Because of the later prescribed safety bumpers by U.S. the first versions look however much better.

In Great Britain the engine is created for that new car, also at the same time for Triumph and there therefore fully developed. Modern, as it is, it is longitudinally with 45° obliquely in the engine compartment and via a laterally located below transmission drives the front wheels. It does not remain long with the carburetor and for this price category leisurely 59 kW (80 hp). Together with the parent Scania it will give fuel injection and later relatively early accession to the turbo-petrol engines.

The testers complain at the first copies the somewhat weary driving performance, stiff steering and the gear changing. Well they found the design, contrasting from that of the others, the manufacturing quality and driveability. As a remnant of the two-stroke time remains to mention the freewheel, indeed prevents driving with the engine brake, but applies as fuel-saving. Especially the engine brake with their effect on only two wheels is rather undesirable in the northern winter. 10/09
