2020 Fiat Panda Hybrid

It doesn't always have what it says on it. In this case, it applies to the term 'Cross'. Sure, other manufacturers use it for crossovers, but not so far Fiat for the Panda. This is a real All-Wheel Drivetrain. From this version here is only the complete design left. It makes a new Impression, but it's not new.

No, it looks good in that outfit. Some might think it's rugged, others might think it's cool. Anyway, it doesn't want to be boring, the new Panda City Cross Hybrid in contrast to the Cross 4x4, which is still available. The Panda is already 40 years old, so it is the fourth generation. It started out as a box-design, as you can see in the picture at the top. It has now been sold over 8 million times.

The five-plus off-road gear box becomes a six-speed again, with the hybrid even larger ratio. The price seems to be a bit more reasonable if you take the already existing manual air conditioning system is taken into account. In the City Cross Plus version, automatic air conditioning and more is possible. Instead of the mild hybrid, the LPG drive is also worth considering.

Let's talk about the mild hybridization for the included 500 Euro surcharge. The only modern subjet about the engine is that it has three cylinders and its crankshaft is connected to an electric motor via a belt drive, also as a generator usable. Recuperation is now possible with almost every new combustion engine, perhaps a little more in this case here because of the additional 12V LiIo battery with 0.132 kWh under the driver's seat. Furthermore, below 30 km/h sailing and always short support are possible when the combustion engine weakens.

There is a lively exchange with the platform of the Fiat 500, which leads to the assumption that the Panda could soon get its purely electric drive. The last picture above shows a concept from 2002 based on the Fiat Panda, the Simba, a name that reminds us of the animal world of the savannah.
