Diaphragm Cylinder



Solution

The above figure shows the diaphragm cylinder at a 90° angle, because the the intake and the outlet air-vents are arranged below. It operates the disc brake through two pistons. The diaphragm cylinder shown here is positioned inside on the rigid axle and spreads the brake shoes of the drum brake through the brake shaft and the S. cam.

The connection for the pressure pipe can be found at the back or from the side. The diaphragm cylinder is dismantled by loosening a strong clamp in the middle which holds both parts of the cylinder, the pressure chamber and the cylinder space, together through its curved cross section. 05/10
