V8 Ferrari Engine

Solution

The picture shows a V8-engine for highly exclusive cars. The angle between the cylinder blocks measures 90°. The impressive intake system is painted with red wrinkle finish. Obviously, when the engine was developed, compact measures were not a priority. This engine can be used in combination with a long intake system, creating a good development of the torque with low numbers of revolution. In this case we see shift induction pipes with one throttle per cylinder block, where still the induction pipes are connected with each other.

Quite similar to production-line engines are the fuel supply with a distributor pipe and fuel injectors and the ignition with an individual ignition coil. However, the exhaust pipes would be way too extravagant for a production-line engine. Additional power is created by:
- a predefined length of the pipes
- the strive for same turns in the pipes to equalize resistance
- smooth surfaces
- predefined two-in-one exhaust pipes.

The angle, from which the pairs of cylinders are brought together, highly depends on the construction of the engine. If they are brought together in an optimal way, the energy of the exhaust gases of one cylinder helps to carry away the exhaust gases of the second cylinder. The compression takes the back pressure into account, resonances are being used.
