Wheel offset depth
Assignment
To create enough space for a sufficiently dimensioned and cooled brake assembly, and to influence the wheel track and the steering offset.
Function
One describes as the wheel-dish, the distance between the wheel centre and the internal supporting surface of the wheel rim on the wheel hub, the brake drum or the brake disk. If the wheel rim bowl is curved
outwardly it is described as positive. The greater it is, the smaller the wheel tracking is, and thus more negative the steering offset. It also increases if the outside of the wheel lies flush with the body work when wider tyres and rims have been installed. 05/10
