You see a compact car, above the usual one, below the SUV. Both are part of the new Compact Modular Architecture. Certain concentrations at Volvo have been indicated already by eliminating the five-cylinder engines. The aim is to transfer this standardization on as many areas as possible. The pictures above and below show the transmission of this idea to design. The two vehicles are peculiarly different and yet also styled the same.

At the same time a drive towards electrification is started. There should be no more individual projects. Each vehicle is available as with three- or four-cylinder engine with or without hybrid technology or within the modular system as a pure electric vehicle. Up to 2025 a million electrified vehicles are to be sold. The first model of the 40-series is expected to appear still in 2017. 05/16
