Volvo 244

This is the result of American safety regulations, which have probably also the purpose to displace European and Japanese manufacturers from the market. Smaller companies such as Volvo, it can not afford to produce their own versions for the U.S. market. Thus the massive bumpers are to integrate as invisible as possible into the body, what is only partially succeeded in this case.
The complete car is still based on its predecessor, its wheelbase is even only slightly larger than that of the "hump" Volvo, which of course looks a bit strange in such a car length. Nevertheless, it can take it with every city car with regard to its turning circle and the angular, straightforward design. Also, one has resisted the temptation to make it accordingly wider and just to stand on such tyres. Thus, the drag coefficient affects only, but not the cross-sectional area with a negative effect on the air drag.
The engine is still the old four-cylinder, as B 18 changed once to 5 crankshaft bearings and a different cylinder head. Here it will be it drilled out to 2.2 liters and finally mutates to the long-stroke engine. Accordant high speed requirements it does not make just quietly, whereby it itself, however, protects against excessive long-term performance. At the end, charging will help the engine to a performance that matches the vehicle. 04/07
