2020 VW Tiguan

When you hear that not the Golf but the Tiguan is the most popular car from VW and since 2018 also the most sold car, you can already guess that the changes will be limited. The old saying 'Never change a winning team.' is still good enough for this phenomenon.

In Europe the most sold SUV.

So please expect only a new face, so that the term 'facelift' still makes sense. All LED, for an extra charge matrix high beam and a strongly modified radiator grille. Two different R's, depending whether it concerns only the equipment or also the drive train.

Yes, perhaps a little unusual that even the strongest version is shown from the beginning, but delivered half a year later. The Tiguan seems to be aiming high at all, as its new front is based on Tuareg and Atlas in the USA. But this includes more chrome, at least on the real R version.

A lot of effort has been put into this model. The layman may first notice the new seats with integrated headrests, then the R button on the steering wheel, which allows the so-called race mode to be selected directly in the specific driving situation. The 235 kW (320 hp) and 420 Nm from two litres displacement seem to be already taken for granted.

Of course, the R-version has four-wheel drive, in this case even with different torque distribution not only between front and rear, but also between the two wheels there. In addition, 21-inch rims and, perhaps even more importantly, larger 18-inch diameter brakes are possible. Highlight for the fans is undoubtedly the Akrapovic exhaust with four, this time real tailpipes, probably not at the list price of 39.230 €.

Otherwise, the Tiguan, just like the new Golf, has two illnesses, once the same sliding infotainment system and then the availability with only one engine. This time, however, it is a 1.5-litre petrol engine in three versions from 28,205 €. Also announced is the Tiguan with eHybrid technology and a 13 kWh battery being already established at VW.
