Toyota-Truck with Fuel Cell

Many people demand a partially ban on certain diesel engines in cities or even a total one from 2025 or 2030 on, without taking the fact that for heavy trucks there is still no alternative in long-distance traffic. After all, Toyota has thought about it and at least a prototype of a fuel cell truck has been created for North America. As you can see in the pictures, a lot of technology comes together.

Toyota is offering 493 kW (670 hp) for the further developed Mirai engine. This is almost too much performance for a truck, whereas the 1,800 Nm produced tend to be mediocre. Nevertheless, they are basically available from a standstill.

Interestingly, an electric motor is not as ideal for a heavy-duty truck as a diesel engine. The video shows four tanks, each of which is to be assigned for 320 km. Even if this range may be a little bit theoretical, this is an eternity away from a pure electric drive.

Ok, with Diesel fuel is still more range possible and one knows too little about the tank ceremony. Also, the lots of equipment are difficult to accommodate in a European truck.

But it is a prototype and hydrogen will probably be generated in a completely regenerative world despite the poor efficiency, because it is often caused by a lot of energy that can not be consumed at the moment.
