This Targa version was offered only until finally model year 1968. If you own a car of this rare type, can count oneself lucky. It is the folding roof behind the targa bar that makes it so special. One can drive with closed roof, only roof open, just open rear end or completely open.

The car was available as 911 and 912. The latter disappeared simultaneously with this Targa version and was replaced by the 911 T. Why was used a fixed car window rear from model year 1969? Maybe it was related to the introduction of the heatable rear window in the coupé one year earlier. It was not to realise in the version with rear folding roof.

Of course, by a fixed car window the view to the rear was much better. Together with the more solid, though collapsible Targa roof the noise comfort has also likely significantly improved when driving closed. However, lateral ventilation slots now were necessary on the targa roll bars. And it's a pity actually but ... 03/15
