Nio Firefly

It is said that the upper middle class deliberately shows off their comfort, while the real upper class seems to be more modest despite its higher spending. So one uses certain signals to make one's status visible, but often only like-minded people recognize this.

We dare to doubt whether the Nio Firefly is precisely tailored to the class. The fact is, however, that he too tends to wear his equipment as a symbol of luxury on the inside. At first glance, you wouldn't guess what in this car, which is only four meters long, is capable of.

No, this does not refer to driving and loading services. It remains on par with compact cars in terms of fuel consumption and loading capacity, and even slightly below in terms of battery capacity. In terms of cost, you shouldn't expect any miracles from it either.

But the fact that it sells itself not only as well-made and ingeniously designed is remarkable. It starts with the wheelbase, which is remarkably large for a car in this class. This means that a relatively flat battery fits between the wheels.

The rest of the technology is so cleverly distributed that there is plenty of cargo space, including the usual oversized frunk with even a possible water drain at the bottom. In addition, there are small storage compartments under the right front and rear seats.

Much of this is already standard . . .

And yet there is still just enough space in the back, which is remarkable for such a small car, and it is also certified as offering good driving comfort and low noise levels. The new car is very ambitious, but everything seems to fit together perfectly.

. . . e.g., excellent seats, excellent assistance systems.

And the dashboard, which has been cleared of buttons and seems to consist of only two displays. This seems to draw attention to the cladding, especially since, in typical Tesla fashion, you will search in vain for the ever-present air vents.

After all, the center display takes into account that the driver can only pay limited attention to it. The most important settings can be adjusted by swiping with two fingers. The almost overloaded turn signal lever and the two buttons on the steering wheel do the rest.

There are (hopefully enough) people who find this very beneficial and are willing to pay a little more for it. They already have a similar-style first car with even more space and range, but it's not as maneuverable as the Firefly in the city, for example.
