2019 Lexus LF 30

Does the steer-by-wire system installed here really manage without any mechanical connection from the steering wheel to the front wheels? It doesn't really matter, because according to the manufacturer, this prototype is intended for automated driving anyway.

Lexus goes 'Electrified Concept', new territory for this manufacturer as well. It is a comparatively large car, not particularly low, too. This creates space for a huge battery, additionally wheel hub motors. If there are four, then everyone still has to deliver 100 kW and 175 Nm.

As you would expect from a prototype, the design is really interesting. A lot of glass, adjustable in light transmission at the sides. Because the front of every Lexus is almost predetermined by the Diabolo grill, the designers have let off steam at the rear and on the sides. Enormous, which form results under the sharp edges at the hinged doors.

And then these rims. Even the wheel motors play their part in the design. The rear is beautiful, although totally impractical. You can already hear the testers swearing over the high loading sill. Also have the impact surfaces lost their actual function because the upper edge tends to touch first. Finally no exaggerated accentuation of the diffuser, but cool integration. Akio Toyoda will have liked it, because this vehicle is certainly not boring. 02/19
