2026 Cupra Born
The new model is easily recognizable at the front, for example by the larger and more finely crafted cooling air intake and even more clearly by the triangular lights below the main headlights, which together
with the two triangles above create particularly striking daytime running lights.
Added to this are the new side air curtains, which, together with the front spoiler, are highlighted in the brand's signature copper color. Together with the logo, now in its purest form, and the two striking
creases,
the overall result is an already significant facelift.
The rims are also copper-colored, at least the ones with which the car was presented. Fortunately, nothing has changed in terms of the solid door handles, nor, incidentally, the wheelbase, length, width, and
height. In contrast, the rear features the inevitable crossbar, which also illuminates the logo.
The three triangles are even repeated in 3D, and the lower part of the bumper now looks even more like a diffuser. What's great about the new design is the choice of technology, which leaves the design
untouched. This brings us to the upcoming entry-level model, which is already listed in the data.
While prices for the VZ version are expected to range between €40,000 and €50,000, there will also be a more affordable model with reduced performance (125 kW/170 hp) and
a battery with a net capacity of 50 kWh.
So even for the cheaper version, this poorly designed construction with the fold-down license plate and the attachment that can only be used for one bike rack can be ordered, but it is unsuitable for a trailer
hitch.
You can see that not all takeovers from the ID.3 or the MEB platform are advantageous. Cupras are produced at at least four locations across Europe, but this one is, of course, still in Zwickau next to the ID.3.
Similar to this one, there have been some changes to the interior, particularly to the trim in the Cupra Born. The keywords are: less plastic, more fabric, and that fabric should also be made from recycled
material. Despite using the same technology, the Born aims to be the slightly more stylish version.
Highlights include a driver display that is twice as large, physical buttons in the doors and steering wheel, and the new Google Android infotainment system. What we particularly like about it is the option of bringing the
navigation to the driver's side as well.
