2021 Citroën C5 X

Presumably, Diesel engines will be waited for in vain.

A Citroën has always been more or less extravagant, clearly deviating also in the range of small cars. However, the company has long understood to convert this special position into a benefit for potential buyers, examples are the large space that the 2 CV offered as a small car or the wonderful suspension of the large Citroën models.

.

Unfortunately, a crucial part of this has been lost in the meantime, namely the sense of being different for consumers. For example, not everyone rightly welcomes the benefits of loops for pulling the doors shut, rubber pads where they are not needed, or the peculiar light signature. In the meantime, however, they seem to be on the way back. So completely leave it but can not.

.

In terms of the new C5 X, this means that the light units have moved closer together again. However, it is peculiar that the three LED main headlights have moved so much into the background. A car with bars instead of eyes. Citroën designers always want to tell you something, sometimes what you don't want to hear. Measured against this saying, however, the new really looks 'normally succeeded'.

The high ground clearance is a bit strange. Obviously, one wants to let the occupants sit high and still produce little air resistance. Perhaps that's why relatively narrow tires were chosen. However, the C5 X clearly has the disadvantage compared to its corporate brother 508 in terms of elegance (see video above).

The seats not only look good because of their color and material styling, they are also described as special comfort seats. This is matched by the hydraulically adjustable suspension with selectable modes, called 'Advanced Comfort Active Suspension' by Citroën. That and the enormous space offered by the new car is probably what Citroën envisions as a worthy representative of the D segment.
