We already had the Q6 here. In contrast, the sedan is almost 16 centimeters lower, but also longer by the same amount, so it takes up more space. In return, the drag coefficient has fallen significantly, even more so in the Sportback than in the Avant.


At the same time, the A6 also has almost 6 cm more wheelbase. This shows how much effort has been put into adapting similar models, but also how easy it has become to change the wheelbase despite the same platform. The passengers sit lower here, so they need more knee room.


It is interesting that a distinction must be made between the Sportback and the Avant, as the latter is 4 centimeters higher. Together with the three points less favorable cW value, this results in an increase in air resistance, which culminates in a 36 km reduction in range. Consider whether you actually need the Avant, which is €1,650 more expensive, especially as the Sportback has almost the same luggage space and also has the large tailgate.


The new A6 actually has no weaknesses, except perhaps that it is available in magnetic gray at no extra cost. It is manufactured in Ingolstadt and there will also be a version with 83 kWh. Perhaps it will be possible to reduce the price a little more here, for the sake of the acceptance of electromobility.


With the new A6/Q6, Audi has a new chief designer. Massimo Frascella comes from Jaguar Land Rover. He is Italian, which means that he has already got some advance praise. He replaces Marc Lichte, who has done a good job at Audi since 2014, and previously also at VW, for example with the Golf 6. He will remain with the company.
