Due to the type approval process for the 356 B, this Carrera GS/GT had to adhere to the 356 B’s body dimensions, so it could only make up a few points in terms of aerodynamics through its body shape. Otherwise, they would have had to build 500 units of even this Carrera GS/GT.

The result is one of the strangest body styles ever mounted on a 356 chassis. The name "Triangular Scraper" was likely given to it because of the unusual extension of the glass house toward the back. At the same time, there was a similar attempt during the design of the 911.

But this was certainly not an attempt, as with the 911, to turn a 2+2 into a four-seater. It is a pure racing machine with just two thin bucket seats, a spartan interior, and Plexiglas windows. Weight was reduced wherever possible, by nearly 200 kg compared to the standard coupe.

The Fuhrmann four-cylinder engine is once again at the height of its boom here, with 118 kW (160 PS). The crankshaft is supported by plain bearings. The engine has a dry-sump lubrication system with a capacity of eight liters of oil, and the electrical system runs on 12 volts, which is by no means a given in a 356.

In the video, you can finally see the Fuhrmann engine with a Sebring sports exhaust and, surprisingly, a very smooth idle. The success in the newly created GT World Championship is proof of the effectiveness of the abrupt cut-off at the rear of the roof.

Only two of these vehicles were ever made. They were, in any case, a temporary solution to the 904 Carrera GTS, which hadn't been completed in time. So they were able to gain experience with the hand-formed bodies featuring the Kamm tail.

The “Triangle Scraper” was not a failed experiment, but rather the last and, at the same time, most modern Porsche 356, and the first harbinger of the 904 generation.
