It is designed for those who find a truck, even a medium-duty one, too large and a van too small. The Fiat 241 is an economical solution for this purpose. It is initially available as a flatbed with a removable wooden floor in
the middle.
If you don't need it as a flatbed truck, you have a loading area of 4.65 m² with a length of 2,860 mm and a width of 1,632 mm. It is surrounded by three folding side walls. The spare tire is placed at the rear bottom.
On the side under the loading area, there are two smaller storage compartments with flaps that are secured against forced opening. The Fiat 124's chassis should not compromise on comfort,
even though the curb weight has increased slightly and the gross vehicle weight has increased significantly.
With the engine in the middle, there were only two seats left in the interior. As a gasoline engine, its noise level should still be tolerable. From 1968 onwards, a 1.9-liter diesel engine with 35 kW (47 hp) was also available.
The maximum speed was thus reduced to 90 km/h.
And although the unladen weight increases by 160 kg, the payload remains the same at 1.4 tons. The crowning glory is a box that can be mounted at the rear, as if it were a shipping container. Typical features include
strong vertical ribbing and only two wing doors at the rear. After all, it can hold 8 m3 of cargo..
