Self-supporting body

It was a design by Fabio Rapi, acquired by Isotta Fraschini, based on the Nuova 1100. The American influence is evident, for example, in the panoramic windscreen. The implied tail fins are also a must.

The designer could get away with a lot: upwardly extending chrome bumpers and striking vertical stripes behind the doors made of the same material, which, despite the front-mounted engine, were probably intended to simulate rear air intakes. They flew into chrome sills at the bottom.

The hub caps also stood out clearly compared to the series and were not far removed from genuine wire wheels. The standard wooden steering wheel is barely visible in the video above. At least the horn ring, typical of the time, is there.

Otherwise, the rather spartan dashboard was a bit surprising. The optional car radio seemed almost lost. Spartan, that couldn't be said of the engine. For an 1100 cc engine, the power was enormous. 15 kW (21 hp) more than the standard model, achieved at the expense of 1400 rpm more revs.

The compression ratio was also significantly increased, and a significantly larger Weber carburetor was added. In 1956, there was a slight change, for example, the front turn signals were now mounted on the fenders instead of the bumper horns. In 1957, the car was released as a more heavily redesigned 1200.

Same price as a Fiat 1900.
