Speech bubbles 2

In the chapter 'Speech bubbles 1', we took a brief look at the software-oriented car from the perspective of the developers. That they should be provided with a common technical language and should keep their knowledge in Europe.

We couldn't quite understand that, but we are also focusing more on the relationship between manufacturers and customers when it comes to this topic. These constant appeals to please make us independent in as many areas as possible are slowly getting on our nerves.

Perhaps the opposite is true when you consider the challenges of the future. In addition to climate change, we also see the possibility that capitalism could hit a wall, if you just think about debt and the widening gap between rich and poor.

Politics is not really our topic here, even if the situation seems to be very serious. So let's stick with the search for the software-oriented car or, as better formulated in the previous chapter, the vehicle that communicates its own needs.

But what are your own needs in a car? And above all, where do they go beyond what can currently be fulfilled? The only ones visible here would be those that can be achieved through autonomous driving from level 4 onwards. You would have your hands and head free for things other than driving.

But it will take a while before this can be guaranteed with sufficient certainty. So let's deal with reality and leave all the empty rhetoric written on this subject aside for now. We therefore ask what the latest ICE can contribute to this issue.

Yes, we have seen how people manage their business or meetings in first class. However, this is already restricted in the ICE 4, because in the quiet area you should be able to sleep or concentrate on your work. This limits phone calls to an absolute minimum.

There are no longer any compartments that are accessible to the general public.

So you might have the conditions for Level 4, but then again you don't, because you have to be considerate. The first-class seats are relatively luxurious and comfortable, but can they compete with the heating/ventilation and massage functions available in cars?

There is still the possibility of onboard service, going to the onboard restaurant and to the restroom, where the car simply cannot compete. The large tables are also unbeatable, especially one for children in the multipurpose railway carriage. However, bicycles must be reserved separately.

If we take the ICE 4 as a benchmark for travel speeds of up to 250/265 km/h, then nothing really important comes to mind that could be feasible to incorporate into passenger cars at present. But then what is the point of constantly referring to the golden age of software-oriented cars? Customers still take their cars to the garage for maintenance just as often, except for Tesla, and are surprised that prices have not fallen, but are currently even rising. Even the bill from the TÜV (German Technical Inspection Agency) has long since exceeded a hundred euros.

Many customers are already bound to the workshop due to the long warranty for the battery. And the increasing amount of leasing adds even more to this. The biannual tire change remains, which can be avoided by using all-season tires, but . . .
