In hardly any component security is so important as in the coupling between the towing vehicle and trailer. Better do not imagine what might happen, the connection would be interrupted at full speed. Therefore, there is at this point indeed plenty of comfort by special equipment, but safety is felt everywhere, no matter if will be coupled or decoupled still by hand, or even completely electronically or pneumatically.

Practically, the kingpin of the trailer is double-locked, once it is engaged. This interlock is monitored triplicate by sensors. Its successful implementation is displayed both on the fifth wheel itself but also in the remote control in the cab. This allows even in certain equipment modes to drive upwards the supports but one still has to get off due to releasing the trailer brake and the departure control. 08/12
