Piston Force

An average working pressure, determined through all the strokes is built up. This pushes the piston with a certain amount of force in the direction of the crankshaft. The strength of this force also depends on of the
piston surface-area. The highest average pressures of about 16 bar are found in F3 engines.
The piston surface is calculated from the flat, circular area, notfrom a possibly very uneven area. |

ExampleVar. set: pm = 8,8 bar; A = 728 mm² = 7,28 cm²Var. asked for: F in NAnswer:F = 10 · A · pm
= 10 · 7,28 cm² · 8,8 bar = 640,64 N
