How it works

A seven-segment display is another form of a light emitting diode. Since a long time we use it in our everday life. You need at least seven of them to show all the numbers from '0' to '9' and a few letters only. It is an output element of digital electronics. It is not steered with single switches like shows above. This is only to explain how it works. Normaly it is controlled by an integrated circuit (IC).
