Sequential Fuel Injection

Function

Using a sequential injection, the whole fuel is injected so early before the end of the induction stroke that it reaches the cylinder together with the streaming air without prestorage. This kind of injection can only be combined with the multi-point fuel injection.

How it works

If the resting high voltage is combined with a double spark coil, the fuel injectors operate, e.g., in the case of four cylinders, like the spark plugs in two groups. Mostly, every injector is controlled individually for single spark igition coils. In the figure above a six cylinder in-line is displayed, blue the injection, blue-red the intake and red the operation. The sequential injection is narrowly linked with the ignition (Motronic).
