Oblique Running- and Side-slip Angle
Oblique running angle
The oblique running angle refers to the respective wheel. It is the angle between the wheel lock (red), and the direction of the wheel movement or the vehicle (green). A certain amount of oblique is necessary so that
the wheel can build up cornering force. The comparison of the front and rear oblique angles, indicates whether the vehicle over- or understeers.
Side-slip angle
The side-slip angle is the angle between the the vehicles direction of movement (green) and its longitudinal axis (blue). The slighter this angle is, even when making sudden steering movements, the greater the
'sports-car' impression is. 12/09
