In-line Injection Pump (M-type)

Solution

For many years, the M-pump appeared in the 'smaller' diesel engines of the Daimler-Benz motor-cars and transporters. It is the inexpensive and smaller version of the in-line pump.
In the open-cut model one can see the conveyer device with manual pump behind the high-pressure device. The right-hand side contains the regulation. Here the (slightly smaller) centrifugal governer with the lever to the higher placed control-rod can easily be seen. The centrifugal governer forms the end of the camshaft, which is driven from the left mostly by the timing chain. In the middle, at the top, is where the acelerator pedal is connected and, with the help of the above lying vacuum unit the engine is shut down.
The high-pressure device is shown partly in the open-cut view. It strongly resembles that of the larger in-line pumps. It is only laid out for conveying smaller quantities and the control-rod twists the sleeve of the pump element when accelerating, through a linkage and not through gear-wheels. It is worthwhile taking a look (by clicking) at the open-cut view of the pump element or the above lying pressure reduction valves.
