Cylinder Head - Cross-flow design
A classical cross-flow cylinder head with both channels, corresponding valves and valve guides is
displayed above. The intake valve to the right can not only
be recognised by the bigger valve disc, but also by the thinner shaft and above all by the accumulated coal. We are most likely dealing with a multi-
position injection,
responsible for the mixture preparation. The valve injects directly onto the intake valve. If there are no additives in the petrol, working against it, carbonisation will in
the future hinder the filling
of the cylinder.
The shaft of the valve to the left is clearly thicker. It presumably has a drilling with sodium filling. If the heat development crosses approx. 90°C, it is carried from the plate to the shaft. 06/08
