LE-jetronic
Function
The catalytic converter requires an Lambda control. The first European tests were made (hence the "E" in LE-Jetronic) whereby, after a precisely prescribed run on the test bench, the exhaust gases were collected and
were then analysed.
How it works
The electronically controlled multi-point injection probably had the best requirements for the integration of the Lambda control. In principle, only one additional sensor had to be integrated into the system. In detail this
was however a little more complicated. Since up to now, additional signals were added to the exsisting processes to calculate the injection amount. Actually, it is more of a control. Now, after ascertaining the
remaining oxygen in the exhaust gas, it had to be regulated over and over again. The first equipment still had cold start valves, which however, were replaced with a double pulsing of the normal injectors (below approx.
300 RPMs of engine speed).
Sensors
Lambda sensor, air volume meter, temperature sensor (coolant), throttle switch, ignition signal (terminal 1).
Actuators
Injection valve, relay (fuel pump)
