Body Repair with Hydraulic

Assignment

Those who know what its like to work with purely mechanical equipment, will appreciate the hydraulic power transfer and force enhancement. With the mechanical implementation, the necessary manual force was applied precisely to the part which also provided for the distortion. In this case, the two parts are separated. Slipping off, because the initial forces are too great, and having too little purchase when beginning, is hardly possible. In addition, with the small distortion tool at the end of the hose, nearly every angle can be reached.

With hydraulics, particularly with a high force requirement, the manual forces do not rise as strongly because the efficiency is substantially greater than with purely mechanical systems. There is also the excellent dosage control. One can carefully and precisely apply enormous distortion forces which amount to several tons in weight. Sometimes, during the distortion, one must overstretch up to 2 cm, however, the border to causing damage, may not be crossed, because then, more parts must be replaced than were originally planned.

Function

The second figure above shows an application for the hydraulic pressure jack. Through numerous accessories, the pneumatic cylinder can be adapted to almost all requirements in modern car-body repair work. The impact obviously occurred in the shown car-body, at an angle from the front right hand side. The hydraulic pressure jack is capable of pushing it back into its original position. With the application of such devices, it is necessary to start out from the more stable part of the car-body, so that the defective part, is in fact straightened out, and the intact part is not distorted. In addition, special protective parts, made of wood (see figure 2) or other material, should be inserted between the hard edges of the tools, and the easily dented sheet-metal parts where they are applied. This part is not always exchanged after successful re-forming. 09/09
