VW Tiguan Allspace




This Tiguan only has the suffix 'Allspace' in Europe.

The introduction of this intermediate model certainly does not have its justification in Germany or Europe. Here the manufacturer reacts on criticism, for example from USA, that the Tiguan seems to be too small. Of course, a longer version of an already existing model can be realized faster.


But you can not make the mistake of holding Allspace just for a prolonged Tiguan. Sure, there are added a good 21 centimeters in length and exactly 11 centimeters in the wheelbase. But on the other hand, almost not many body parts have remained untouched. Allegedly to be seen at the front similarities with the model Atlas. But look for yourself (picture at the top). However, roof, and the complete side inclusive windows are differently shaped.


Of course, the doors had to be extended especially at the rear, which is still not enough for the ability to reach seat six and seven. They are almost probably more suitable for smaller children. Good, too, if not two sitting giants sit in front. 'Allspace' means rather: Well suited for up to five people with a lot of luggage.


It almost becomes gigantic when everything but the driver's seats backrest is folded down, then a high but flat and comparatively huge surface is created. And depending on the engine you may still use a trailer upto 2,000 - 2,500 kg, as with the normal Tiguan, too. And the closing of the tailgate is also extended by a new function. If you press an extra button, the tailgate waits 20 seconds before closing.


At first glance, the Allspace seems to be 3,000 euros more expensive. But that's wrong, because it is not available with the smaller of the two 1.4-liter petrol engines with 92 kW (125 hp). So the price difference shrinks to a more bearable € 1,425. In the case of the diesel it is even 100 € less, but climbs with the diesel top model in Highline equipment to 1,850 €.


Not bad for 265 liters more luggage space, with seven seats, however, only 120 liters, one more reason not to buy it and save € 750. 90 kg, the Allspace weighs more and can be parked a little worse with 0.4 m more turning circle. At 6 to 9 g/km more CO2 load can be easily realized the additional consumption. 12/17
