Purchase price

Where's Skoda going? This model is more than 700 euros more expensive than the Golf GTI. Almost the same amount once more you have to pay for the station wagon. Certainly, the sedan offers a bit more space than the Golf, but the driver of such a powerful car wants such a thing even? Especially the station wagon attracts to the saying: 'A little fun for the head of the extended family'.

Even more strange is the so-called question of price. Well, if the car will be not a great sales success, it does not harm quite so as if a completely new model would has been developed. With the RS becomes evident, the relative autonomy of successful subsidiaries of the Group. Thereby this Skoda yet even belongs to the from VW, opposed to the from Audi dominated part of the group.

Audi incidentally has the merit of having made presentable the ultra-fast estate car. Maybe Skoda builds on it a little. Or needs every brand its highlight that radiates down to the other models, no matter what it costs. The driver of a normal Octavia then travels around with GTI fantasies. And then the RS with a diesel engine, so to speak as a Golf GTD blend, even a little bit more expensive.

Is it really clever, two so different cars seen from the performance, to sell under the same label? One must really wonder whether this marketing concept works. 09/13
