The name 'Ateca' comes from a small Spanish village in the province of Zaragoza. Although it is derived from Tiguan, the modular transverse matrix becomes noticeable here. It has 5 centimeters less wheelbase and
12 cm less length. This affects the luggage space behind the rear seat. Here 485 liters are possible with and 510 liters without four-wheel drive, at least 100 liters less than the Tiguan. Whereby the Tiguan always has
the same luggage compartment size, whether with front-wheel drive or 4MOTION.
The Tiguan comes with only two 2L engines, the 132 kW (180 hp) petrol and the 110 hp (150 PS) diesel engine. Although the latter is also available in Ateca, it is accompanied by a 1.6-liter with 85 kW (115 hp) and a
2-liter with 140 kW (190 hp). As entry level petrol engines has the Ateca the 1.4-liter 110 kW (150 hp) and the 1.2-liter with 85 kW (115 hp). The latter is a three-cylinder, something unusual for a SUV. However Ateca will
be thus available for about 20,000 euros, 10,000 euros cheaper than the current entry-level of Tiguan.
You may guess which group model in the design of Ateca still had its finger in the pie. Of course, the Seat Leon. At the latest, when you board the interior, you will recognize it. Sure, both are located in the C-segment.
The VW-group has obviously assigned to Seat the smaller SUV variant and positions the Tiguan half a class higher. The market of small SUVs is the only one with chance of growing by up to 20 percent. May be Seat
becomes as successful as koda.
The rest of the story is told quickly. With additional charge you can get full LED, traffic jam and front assist, indicating vehicles in the blind mirror spot and traffic signs and cameras for safe driving and parking. Inside
the Ateca can be equipped with 8-inch display, Android Auto, Apple carplay and inductive charging for smartphones. As the last thing to be mentioned remains the start button with modulated red. 02/16
