The exact same price as the Cayenne Diesel S, this can probably not be a coincidence. However, the emphasis is on the 'S', for the Cayenne Diesel is nearly 16,000 euros cheaper. The new hybrid, however, surpasses the around 100 g/km for CO2 emissions.

It is interesting how it is achieved because the hybrid consumes 20.8 kWh per 100 km according to Porsche's information, but has 'only' 10.8 kWh on board. Whether these are the fully usable kWh or only the nominal? And the Cayenne has 215 g/km emissions with a similar engine but less performance.

Theoretically, the Cayenne should thus be able to drive 50 km electrically and would then still emit more than 100 g/km. But Porsche indicates only a maximum of 33 km electric range. And yet just 79 g/km to be emitted on (the first) 100 km. And even though the combustion engine has neither continuous nor exhaust-side cam adjustment. However, it is the only one charged by the compressor instead of an exhaust gas turbocharger.

In summary, one can say that it is a hybrid drive with a relatively small battery for the car size. Accordingly, the luggage space shrinks only slightly, and the empty weight is increased moderately. Nevertheless, the steel suspension is able to cope with the extra weight so well, that still an almost greater payload arises than at the other models. After all, the chassis management PASM is as standard in the price.

The Cayenne Hybrid thus is among the S models not only seen from the price, apart from the active all-wheel drive. Also the double tailpipes indicate thereon. Although the system performance achieves, because of the different speed levels, not quite the sum of the individual performances, but comes very close with 306 kW (416 HP).

Regarding the difference in price, one can not only look to the battery, electric motor with decoupler and power electronics. There are 'hybrid-specific displays', air-conditioning compressor, power steering and brake booster electrically driven and different ways of charging, which actually identify the car as a plug-in hybrid. 11/14
