Peugeot RCZ

To date (2009), the engines be still not really clear. Most likely is a 1.6-liter turbo with 147 kW (200 hp). All this based on the Peugeot 308, with which then also correspond most of the other data. Peugeot also gives up its existent numering since about 1930 with one or (more recently) two zeros in the middle. Had it not been, The most famous of all Porsche would be called 901 today and not 911.

But considering the exciting form, it is not really important, whether the car next spring will be called now RCZ '308' or simply 'RCZ'. Hasty observers compare it with those of the first Audi TT, but overlook thereby major developments. There most attract attention the roof that does not run out without a significant bend back. It seems to be entirely from (although partially dimming) glass, with two massive aluminum frame on both sides. At just 1.36 meters are provided for driver and front passenger knuckles, which this low height cleverly utilize.

The headlights have further extended towards A- respectively C-pillar, as is usual for Peugeot, but what is here taken rather positively. The radiator grille is not quite as uninspired as with other models and the abutting surfaces of plastic cover finally almost every stone-chipping. The dividing lines in the middle of the fenders are already a little novelty. This also applies to the sidelines. The doors still cover a certain proportion of the fenders, but are then taken back with a distinctive manner. Look how the frameless window runs out towards the rear door window, and then to make space for a tiny triangular window. There Peugeot's outstanding nose and the embedding of the fog lights barely attract attention.

Maybe the car has even a slight surplus of forms, but interesting is the latest Peugeot development in any case. Also good that more and more details of the design studies meanwhile see the series. 10/09
