Just in time for the 75th anniversary of the company with excellent sales revenues in the export, too the Opel Admiral enters the stage. It is not the first big Opel. Almost 10 years before it has even given an eight-cylinder, but the falls victim the takeover by GM. Also in the picture above can be seen the dimensions of the body with huge wheelbase and the opening doors in different directions. Although still a Mercedes is significantly more expensive, Opel dares clearly in the upper class, because for the price you can buy a house at this time.

Although the engine originates from the GM shelves, it will be thoroughly revised. So capacity and number of main bearings do not agree with the American equivalent. Its hanging valves are progressive for the time and allow much more compact combustion chambers and an easier access in the valve adjustment. As this car still is traditionally made as a box frame with X-shaped beam with wood/steel construction, there are several body shops for it.

Also the Admiral has been clearly positioned by extra features into the upper class. His windscreen wipers automatically returns to its starting position when switched off. Everywhere there are lights, even for the floor, an electric cigar lighter is available and a steering wheel lock protects against theft, naturally not all in a normal car of 1937. Only the Dubonnet spring system springs sometimes a little too much and is beneficial not for everyone. 09/09
