One already has marvelled at the Golf GTI with exactly twice the performance compared with its first edition. Then the Golf R came with 220 kW (300 HP) and it was believed that the end of the road has been reached. Just now the Peugeot 308 GTi appeared, from which is said to have with 200 kW (270 hp) the best displacement capacity in the 1.6-litre class. Converted to 2 litres that would be 250 kW. And now comes AMG and adds still 30 kW.
Where will we end up? 475 Nm from 2,250 rpm are very respectable values of a V8 naturally aspirated engine with about 5 litres of displacement, but at a higher number of revolutions. At all, does one need greater numbers of cylinders than 4, except for ultimate sports car? Also interesting is the geometric compression, the Peugeot indicates with 11.0 : 1, however, AMG with 8.6. There the boost pressure might be quite different. Does that mean, you could it increase even more with even stronger lowered compression?
The A45 is now in 4.2 seconds from zero to one hundred, once more 0.4 seconds less than its predecessor. For this driving performances, the achieved in standardized driving CO2 value still appears relatively moderate. Unfortunately, AMG specifies no drag coefficient, which should still be beyond 0.32. Actually a diffuser replaces the rear spoiler. But here it seems to emphasize in addition the separation from the 250 Sport.
Have a look at these interior equipment. The purchase price we have not listed in the above table in order not to frighten. Cautious preparing it can be said that probably 50,000 euros will not be enough. Thus, the A45 is likely to be the most expensive four-cylinder saloon at all.
