Ford Taunus P5 Turnier
Who really feels something for a combi? Certainly, if there is a saloon with sophisticated equipment or even a coupé or convertible.
The latter survive rather because
they are much more expensive and drive less kilometers.
What a contrast to the Ford Taunus P5 station wagon. It was also as a new car low priced to the slogan: "Ford, a lot of car for the money ". It was also
used without mercy, as family van or often overloaded to Turkey and back.
In addition, there is a more famous predecessor from the perspective of stylists, the P3. So must the P5 feel as runner-up, and only be
intermediate station to a new, much more angular line. But to whom the practical utility and the spaciousness of the interior
are important, the appreciates the P5 particularly as Turnier.
For restorers there is of course the problem of low value. Firstly, one finds hardly well-preserved specimens because
these vehicles used up to collapse. On the other hand, it's hardly worth searching for the now rare and expensive chrome parts or a possible
new production because the final product has hardly a reasonable value.
One does not know if the term "Big Tub" for this car is meant positive or negative. It looks better than the station waggon version of the P3. And about the benefits of V4 engines with rear-wheel drive can be argued, but hardly about the V6 version as the most favorable
six cylinder in the market. The rear, leaf-sprung rigid axle at the time is still standard.
