Ford Mondeo
As the successor of Sierra it should advance to the car of the world. The chances were good. As a hatchback version, it pleased everybody, the proponents of the saloon car with its rudimentary rear end, the friends of the variable luggage compartment by its large tailgate, even though unlocking of the asymmetric foldable rear seatback is not yet solved optimally. On the seats was available just sufficient place.
Actually, the Mondeo is more an average car, neither outstanding nor greatly disappointing. But in terms of its chassis and its noises, it did the latter however, while e.g. it scores at the safety equipment with standard airbag. Very soon after the start of the series, there were also one for passenger. And then it still deserved praise, because as a typical Ford it was to be had almost simultaneously as station wagon (Pardon: Turnier).
Although one had to pay extra e.g. ABS, it was, differences in equipment adjusted, cheaper than the competition. And although the rear headrests were hardly worthy its name, it was classified as safety-conscious by the manufacturer, the pioneer of airbags fitted as standard. After all was told that its development to have cost $ 4.6 milliard. The development costs would then be at 4.5 million cars sold for each about $ 1,000. 06/14
