V8 Ferrari Engine
Shown is a V8 engine for exclusive road vehicles. The angle between the cylinder banks is 90°. The intake system of the naturally aspirated engine, which is partly covered with red shrink paint, is impressive. There is
obviously enough space for the high constructed mid-engine. You can use it for long intake paths and therefore good torque development in the lower speed range. These are probably switching intake manifolds, which
have a throttle valve per cylinder bank, but are still connected to each other.
The fuel supply via distributor pipe and injection valves and the ignition via
individual spark coils are not all that different from mass-produced engines. On the other hand, the routing of the exhaust
pipes is a special feature. Which four-cylinder in-line engine has such a complex exhaust system? Here additional
performance is achieved by: - coordinated pipe lengths, - equal resistance through the same curvatures as possible, - smooth walls, - precisely coordinated Y-pipes.
The distances at which pairs of cylinders should usually be brought together depend crucially on the design of the engine. Optimally connected, the kinetic energy of the exhaust gases from one cylinder helps to dissipate
the exhaust gases from the next cylinder in the firing sequence. Dynamic pressures are taken into account during compression and resonances are used.
