It almost always starts the same way. A prestigious company like Ford, GM or Mercedes has problems with either the racing- or the production version. Cosworth has a look at the construction, changes the design and advises the companies. If the problems are solved, the companies show their satisfaction by ordering the production of 100 to 400 examples which are necessary for the homologation. This is how a company grows.

Thus, various Opel Ascona and Manta 400, the 16-V models of the Mercedes 190 and a number of others, are developed. If the Cosworth marque is also found on the cylinder head, both companies profit from the additional advertising effect. Of course the exceptionally good contact to Ford has never broken off. Here, one of the greatest projects was carried out, that of the Sierra Cosworth.

As already mentioned, Keith suffered a heart attack in 1973. During his recuperation he met Alf Vickers who suffered the same problem. He came from Jensen and at first, devoted himself to the accountancy then later the in-house foundry.
