It looks like a real car. But be careful, with a wheelbase of 1.8 m are no miracles possible. In principle the front foot space suffices to the front edge of the car, if not there would be the spare wheel. That you have to remove to the passenger compartment. There is no front cover for reasons of stability.

For the front axle is therefore not much room, so it is restricted in principle to a lower transverse control arm. This is probably the first occurrence of a swing axle from the non-driven side. It gives the car all in all the typical positive camber when lifting.

Presented is the Goggomobil on a motorcycle show, because it was in Germany mobile with the smallest engine for the old mobile license class 4. This was bound to a maximum of 250 cc and the 250cc engine is even a revival (1970-74). The question of the required license probably best explains the success of this early Glas-car.

Believe it or not, but apart from the air-cooled rear engine, there are two things in common with the VW Beetle. For here the end is bolted to the body and are the fenders attached with piping to the sides, for the time not so unusual.

Also interesting is the model upgrading over 15 years of production. There is the change from one to two windshield wipers, that connection will be added later from the outside (Fig. 3). Much more frequently occurs the change on the doors also with other manufacturers, here of sliding- on crank-windows and - more importantly for safety - from the rear to the front stop.

Car technically seen the fourth image is actually the most interesting. Here, in principle, the entire drive unit including the axle drive is shown. Left in the rear of the vehicle the two-cylinder two-stroke with large, space-filling counterweights on the crankshaft. Rear of the crankshaft is installed the combination of starter and generator (Dynastarter) with the fan and the gear tooth system of the oil bath gear for the motorcycle transmission. To the right it goes on to the axle drive, the torque gives of simple universal joints to the rear wheels. There are no other joints on the wheel side, whereby the wheels react with camber changes during compression.
